Why I do my Good Enough drawing posts

Drawing really doesn’t happen like this:
 

 
Even though we sometimes feel like it sometimes should.
 
And even through we think our owl should at least turn out looking as good as the one on the right.
 
Your drawing CAN end up looking as good as that one. But it takes time. And practice. And patience. And more practice.
 
Some folks are blessed with a natural ability to draw gorgeous renderings of what they see. My mom is one of them. I am not.
 
Honestly, that’s why I do my Good Enough drawing posts: to simplify and break down an image so I and other doodlers, sketch noters, graphic facilitators, and other folks who enjoy picking up a pen on occasion might be willing to KEEP on picking up those pens and drawing things that catch our fancy.
 
It’s all about demystifying the image and making the image more accessible to draw. Not perfectly, but Good Enough. Being able to draw a thing Good Enough makes me happy, and I hope it makes you happy as well.
 
Do I want my drawings to be “prettier?” Would I like my owl to look like the one on the right? Sure.
 
Although, honestly, given enough time, my owl would look like that. When I sit down and take my time (and have a model from which to reference) my drawings can turn out quite nice.
 
But I’m not spending my time drawing perfect owls. I’m spending my time drawing gloriously imperfect conversations.
 
So these Good Enough drawings are just fine. And guess what? Your Good Enough drawings are just fine, too. ;^)
