How To Draw A Globe…Four Ways!

In this increasingly-connected world, the globe and the Earth become even more meaningful metaphors for business.  At the same time, our increasing awareness of the changes in our climate – business and otherwise – have the earth coming up more and more in conversation.

With that in mind – and with Earth Day just around the corner – I thought I’d show you how to draw a Good Enough globe… four different ways!

(… and @danielhoang, this one’s for you!)

So the first globe is basically a circle with some latitude and longitude lines.  It’s a great way to represent the globe in a hurry… especially during business meetings.  (Plus, it reminds me of the old-school Pan Am travel days!)

The second globe is more of an Earth representation.  The good news about drawing this kind of a globe is that you don’t have to be exact in your representations of the land masses.  I typically draw lines at the top and bottom to indicate the poles, then I do some squiggles to vaguely represent the continents.  In this case, I was thinking of North and South America, England, a bit of Africa, and a hint of Australia coming in as well.  Good enough!  ;^)

Once you have your globe, you can use that as a place to start having fun with some metaphors:

As for me, I think the world’s a pretty awesome place.  How about you?

Better yet, why not draw your version of the globe and tweet it to @jeannelking?  I’d love to see what you draw up!

Want to have fun drawing AND inspire others to pick up the pen at the same time?  Got something you wish you could draw, but you’re not sure how to approach it? Tweet your drawing or idea to @jeannelking and tag it with #goodenough: it could be featured in an upcoming “how to draw good enough” blog post!

Looking forward to seeing what you draw forth!
