For the vast majority of us, two things in this life are unavoidable: death and taxes. And between the two, nothing seems to get people going more than the IRS!
Now, to be fair, I really like and appreciate the folks I’ve encountered from the Internal Revenue Service. I’ve found them to be friendly, patient, helpful, and all-around good people. I’ve had good experiences with them, and I look forward to more of the same.
At the same time, I know that there are other folks who have had… shall we say “different” experiences. When they come up in discussions, these experiences need to be witnessed and honored. Here, then, is how I like to draw a Good Enough frustrating IRS experience:
Yes, the shakedown. I can’t tell you how many times this image – the giant, almighty hand shaking out Joe Citizen’s pockets – has come up while visualizing conversations about the tax system. It doesn’t seem to matter if you’re rich or poor, liberal or conservative, green or purple: nobody likes to feel targeted by the IRS. (And if our citizen in the drawing was feeling like a target, we could draw a Good Enough target on his t-shirt to represent that!)
May our every experience with the IRS be a positive one!
Want to have fun drawing AND inspire others to pick up the pen at the same time? Got something you wish you could draw, but you’re not sure how to approach it? Tweet your drawing or idea to @jeannelking and tag it with #goodenough: it could be featured in an upcoming “how to draw good enough” blog post!
Looking forward to seeing what you draw forth!
