Silos: they’re not just for farming any more. Increasing numbers of strategy meetings I attend have this term popping up… folks are tired of working in isolation from the rest of the organization, and are working hard to bust up the silos that keep departments and programs separate from each other.
So, partly because it’s such a ubiquitous metaphor in business and partly because @jennshepherd requested it, here’s the tutorial!
How to draw a Good Enough silo:
Three Tips:
On the Farm:
Of course, that’s just one silo. When using it as a metaphor you can draw them in all sorts of ways! Here’s what you might hear someone say in a siloed work environment, for example:
Now you’re ready to do some silo-busting (or silo-bridging) of your own!
… and that’s it! What does YOUR silo look like? Draw yours up, Tweet it out to @jeannelking #goodenough, and let ideas sprout! (Get it? Because silos hold seeds, and seeds sprout… okay, yes, I know. It was a stretch. ;^)
Want to have fun drawing AND inspire others to pick up the pen at the same time? Got something you wish you could draw, but you’re not sure how to approach it? Tweet your drawing or idea to @jeannelking and tag it with #goodenough: it could be featured in an upcoming “how to draw good enough” blog post!
Looking forward to seeing what you draw forth!
