Pardon me, Miss, but your art is showing

Welcome to the opening of my online gallery, where I have on display examples of my work from professional and personal meetings.

Seriously, how cool is that?! I’ve opened my own gallery! True, it’s online, but who cares!? I’m considering this a huge step toward owning my inner artist… because I keep denying her abilities. As in:

Someone: “Wow, you drew that during this meeting?!”

Me: “Yep!” (biting off the urge to apologize for how cheezy the artwork is)

Someone: “Seriously? You drew this just now? This is about what we were just talking about! That’s amazing! You’re quite the artist! How do you do that? Hey everybody, come look at what this woman just did… ”

Me: “Oh no, it’s just how I think… ”

This happens to me all the time. And I mean ALL the time. It’s how I listen, it’s how I think, it’s part of who I am… and I’m just now getting around to embracing the idea that it’s a cool thing!

Of course, my inner critic looks at my drawings and says… well, it’s probably not important what she says. My technical skills may not be the most amazing, and I can’t draw realistic-looking hands… but I do have to admit that my “hands” do look like something Picasso would draw, and isn’t he supposed to be an artist or something? (Ha!) Therefore, I am hereby officially embracing my inner artist! She may not be a realist, but she is certainly an expressionist. And I don’t give a whit for what my inner critic says about it!

So, welcome to my gallery, where I have on display examples of my work from professional and personal meetings. I am so glad that you are here. Have some fruit and cheese, help yourself to a glass of happy, and enjoy!

I cannot wait to see what you draw forth
