What is it?
An IEP is an Individualized Education Program and is a customized plan of action used in schools for certain kids with specific disabilities. A visual IEP is a process that uses graphic recording to help in the design and development of the education plan. The process ensures that families, teachers, and school administration are all on the same page and working in the best interest of the student, and the outcome is a visual document of the IEP that families can use as a road map to success.
How does it work?
Once your child is enrolled in an IEP, then I join the IEP team as one of the experts enlisted to help your child succeed! So what does that mean? It means I join you at strategic IEP meetings to visually document the main points of the IEP conversation. My role is one part graphic recorder, one part empathic listener, and one part meeting facilitator, so I may ask a few questions here and there in the meeting to clarify points and make sure the visual image captures the IEP perfectly.
IEP meetings can be challenging. There is a lot to discuss and it’s common to get lost in the details. Visually documenting the process empowers your child to play a bigger role in his/her education plan. Adding graphic recording to the IEP process brings a fresh perspective to the dialogue and can elevate the conversation to focus on the long-term vision for your child’s education.
What does it cost?
I want to work with you… what’s next?
Yay! I’d love to be part of the team that helps draw forth the best in your child! The first step is to fill out the contact form below. Once we hear from you, we’ll reach out to set up an exploratory call to discuss the IEP process in more detail. Because there are so many moving pieces to the IEP process, it’s imperative that your child’s IEP team supports the addition of graphic recording. We can discuss how to introduce this idea to the IEP team during our exploratory call, and determine together what our next steps will be!
